Residents of Baringo County have been urged to prioritize on flagship projects in a bid to quickly achieve economic impact on resources allocated to devolved units.
This is according to Baringo County Director for Civic Education Wesley Kiprop while speaking during budget sensitization forum today in Nginyang area in Loyamorok Ward, Tiaty Sub County.
Mr Kiprop asked citizens to shelve their partisan interests during public participation forums on budgeting and concentrate common interest projects that cut across several Wards especially water, roads, agriculture, livestock and tourism.
“Learn to sacrifice your social and political interest when discussing development because there is an advantage in pulling together resources to set up projects that are more than Sh100 million or more in a given area particularly at sub county level unlike the current situation where projects are done per Wards or even locational level,” he said.
A view that received the backing of County Budget Officer Jacob Kandagor adding that Counties that have been perceived to have moved ahead economically have focused on flagship projects that spur economic growth.
Mr Kandagor announced that they will be conducting public participation forums mid this month of August so that the citizens can give their priorities during budget overall estimates in the form of County Fiscal Strategy Paper and they should use the opportunity to plan their flagship development projects for 2020/2021 financial year.
