Eldoret Court Requests Medical Examination to Determine Suspect’s Real Gender

The Eldoret Chief Magistrate’s Court was aghast to hear that one of the suspects held in the women’s cells was a man. The individual Hillary Kiprotich who was going by the name Shieys Chepkosgey was arrested at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for pretending to be a nurse at the hospital and was remanded in the women’s prison when officials discovered that he was a man.Chief Margistrate Charles Obulutsa asked for extra medical examination to establish Shieys gender. He admitted that he was born a man but insisted that he identifies as a woman.Obulutsa asked the investigating officer to ‘use his wisdom’ to decide which cells the suspect should be held in. The suspect was accused of pretending to be a nurse called Pamela Mulupi.Kiprotich is an athlete who has participated in two international marathons as a woman.
