The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to set up industrial parks in five counties, that is Embu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Migori, and Nandi. The counties offered land for the implemntation of the project.
The Industrial Parks will be set up by partnerships between local and international investors. The investors and traders will benefit from incentives like tax exemptions for exporters. According to the President of the KNCCI Richard Ngatia, the biggest challenge has been lack of land, but the five counties have solved the problem by offering land.
According to the KNCCI, investors are lining up to finance the projects.
Each of the counties will have a facility line built to match the potential to produce and the size of land. The chamber is using the project to promote Small and Medium Enterprises.
