School Bus Plunges off a Cliff in Elgeyo Marakwet County

One person died in Elgeyo Marakwet County when a school bus fell down the Kerio Escarpment.

The 52-seater vehicle which belonged to Kapchebau Secondary School fell off the road between Maron and Sambalat, according to Eyewitnesses.

Out of the two occupants in the car, one died and the other survived.

There were no school pupils in the car when the driver fell victim to the treacherous hilly roads.

Area police boss asked drivers to be careful when negotiating the sharp bends along the hilly terrain of the escarpment.

The injured person was taken to Kapsowar hospital.

The ill fated bus was said to be headed to Tot mixed secondary school where a group of students were waiting to be taken to Kabarak for music festivals.

In January 2019, a Physics teacher at Marakwet boys was killed in a hit and run incident.

The teacher met his untimely demise in the accident along Eldoret-Iten road.

Motorists came across the body of Gilbert Tarus during the wee hours of the morning.

Also in January, six students we’re injured when their matatu veered off the Iten-Tambach road. The driver of the Matatu had lost control.
