The Mediheal Group of Hospitals is constructing a new Cancer Centre in Uasin Gishu County. The Sh1 billion facility will help Kenyans to access treatment for Cancer.
At the moment, more than 27,000 Kenyans die of cancer related problems every year. One of the most recent notable victims of Cancer is the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.
The facility is expected to offer the same standard of treatment sought by Cancer patients who travel to India on a regular basis.
Local hospitals are currently unable to handle the backlog of cancer patients due to shortage of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
Mediheal will be opening the new hospital in less than two years. Eldoret already has the Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Disease Centre.
Mediheal will be partnering with US-based Varian systems to offer the service.
Besides offering treatment for different types of cancers, the center will also be offering liver transplants.
The new move will put Kenya on the map, because currently only Egypt and South Africa can take care of liver transplants.
A donated liver will regenerate within two years.
Mediheal is associated with Kesses Member of Parliament Swarup Mishra, who is the founder and chairman of Mediheal Group of Hospitals.
